SUEN participated in the IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition held by the International Water Association (IWA) in Copenhagen on 11-15 September 2022 under the main theme of "Water for Smart Livable Cities".

The knowledge and experience gained by the ongoing project “Nationwide SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance Studies in Wastewaters”, which is coordinated by SUEN, were shared in the "Wastewater Epidemiology: SARS-CoV-2" session held on 12 September 2022 with the title of "2.5 Years Experience in Covid-19 Tracking of Turkey via Wastewater Based Epidemiology (WBE): Regional Distribution Maps, Early Warning, Variants, Dashboards”. In the same session, the relevant institutions of Spain, Australia, Brazil, Austria and South Africa also presented the WBE studies carried out in their countries.

In addition, as part of the Watermed 4.0 project in which SUEN is one of its partners, the accepted paper titled as "Water Reuse in Agriculture: Konya Closed Basin Case Study" including the first-year results of the field works completed by SUEN in the Konya Closed Basin were presented.

The congress was held under six thematic tracks (Water Utility Management, Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery, Drinking Water & Potable Reuse, City-scale Planning and Operations, Communities, Communication & Partnerships and Water Resources & Large Scale Water Management). Both presentations were delivered under the track of “Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery”.
