In 2016, the United Nations General Assembly declared the period 2018-2028 as the International Decade for Action on “Water for Sustainable Development”. The International Decade for Action which was initiated by the Government of Tajikistan started with the High Level Conference held in Dushanbe in 2018. The 2nd High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028 was organized in 6-9 June 2022 in Dushanbe.

As a member of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the conference, SUEN President Prof. Ahmet M. Saatçı participated in the IAC Meeting which was organized prior to the conference where the Conference Declaration was finalized. The conference was followed by a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye headed by Prof. Saatçı.

The 2nd High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action on “Water for Sustainable Development” brought together prominent water experts from all around the world in Dushanbe. The outcomes of the conference will provide input to the Midterm Review Conference which will take place from 22 to 24 March 2023 in New York and will be co-hosted by the governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands. The Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference in 2022 has served as a platform to support an effective preparation for the midterm comprehensive review.
