The fifth and sixth training programs on 8-12 June and 15-19 June 2020 under the main themes of “design of wastewater collection networks” and “groundwater management and rainwater harvesting” have consecutively been completed as part of the “Extensive capacity development program for Syrian water engineers in Water, Sanitation and Irrigation sector” executed in cooperation with the Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU).
The one-week programs, implemented online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a total attendance of 65 people, covered different lecture topics from the theory and principles of hydraulics and design as well as software applications in the design of sewer networks as part of the “design of wastewater collection networks” program; while the “groundwater management and rainwater harvesting” program covered topics such as strategic management of groundwater resources, impacts of climate change on groundwater resources, hydrogeological aquifer characteristics and methods of determination of parameters, operation principles of groundwater wells and rainwater harvesting techniques.
Participants who successfully passed the exams at the end of the courses received their certificates of course completion.
