The 2019 edition of the UN World Water Development Report entitled “Leaving no one behind” which was also contributed by SUEN was published.

The 2019 World Water Development Report (WWDR) focusing on "Leaving no one behind" was recently published. The report argues that fulfilling the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation for all can also significantly contribute to the achievement of the broad set of goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. WWDR examines how improved water resource management and access to water supply and sanitation services can help address the causes and alleviate the impacts of poverty and social inequity. The report also addresses disadvantaged groups in vulnerable situations who might be “left behind” with respect to water and sanitation such as rural populations, people in illegal settlements and refugees.

SUEN contributed in the Chapter 8 “Refugees and forced displacement crises” of the Report. SUEN also prepared a box on meeting water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) needs of Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey, indicating the successful practices by Turkey to provide all Syrians living in Turkey with water and sanitation services.

The United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR), is the annual thematic UN-Water flagship report on water.
