Turkish Water Institute (SUEN) hosted the Management Committee meeting of the Blue Peace in the Middle East Initiative on 26-27 February 2018 in Istanbul. High-level experts and representatives from India, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey were present at the gathering. As a result of the meeting, it was decided that the Cooperation Council for Blue Peace in the Middle East will be established and a Management Committee, a Coordination Office and Thematic Activity Centers will be formed under the Council. It was agreed that SUEN will act as the Coordination Office for the first term and will undertake the thematic activities of water efficiency and water quality as one of the proposed thematic activity centers.

It is expected that the Cooperation Council for Blue Peace in the Middle East will start its activities as from January 2019.
