Netherlands-Turkey Water Cooperation Platform Kick-Off Meeting and Cooperation Network Meeting on Water and Energy Efficiency in WWTPs and Irrigation were held on November 7-8, 2016 in Istanbul.

Attended by Turkish Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs Undersecretary Mr. Akif Özkaldı and H.E. Ambassador Mr. C. van Rij, the kick off meeting evaluated the fields of activity projected within the Joint Working Program that is to be scheduled by January 2017. The Platform Members recommended that the Platform may organize events to bring sector representatives together, develop capacity building programs and regularly inform sector representatives about the funding opportunities available to develop joint projects.

On the second day of the program, representatives from water and sewerage administrations (İSKİ, BUSKİ, İSU), TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, TAGEM and companies operating both in the Netherlands and Turkey participated in the Cooperation Network Meeting. In the morning session, the participants shared their activities with visual presentations. In the afternoon, the participants were given free time for discussing bilateral business opportunities. This networking session allowed for an ample exchange of knowledge across public, private and knowledge institutions.
