Co-hosted by the India-based Strategic Foresight Group (SFG) and MEF University in co-operation with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Women, Water and Peace Conference was held in Istanbul on March 18-19, 2016.

Nearly 40 water experts, high-level policymakers, academics and journalists from Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Kenya, and India participated. SUEN’s Burcu Çallı attended the Conference as a panelist in the session titled "Lessons Taken from the Nile River Basin".

Attended by international water experts and opened by Nile Basin Initiative Director John Rao Nyaoro, the session discussed the role of women in the solution of water problems both in the Nile Basin and the region and focused on women’s contribution to the development of regional cooperation on transboundary waters.
