Türkiye Participated Actively in the 10th World Water Forum

The tenth of the World Water Forums, organized every three years in cooperation with the World Water Council and the host country, was held in Bali between 19-24 May 2024, hosted by Indonesia. Türkiye participated actively in the 10th World Water Forum (10th WWF), with a delegation, headed by Deputy Minister Mr. Ebubekir Gizligider, consisting of officials from the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN), the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, the General Directorate of Water Management as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

 

Türkiye’s representatives served as coordinators, moderators and speakers in the forum, participating in the sessions organized under the thematic process, political process (heads of states process, ministerial process, parliamentarians process, basin authorities process, local authorities process) and regional processes, as well as high-level panels and side events. In addition, bilateral meetings were held with ministers and senior officials of international organizations and opportunities for cooperation between countries and institutions were discussed.

 

 

Throughout the forum, held under the main theme of "Water for Shared Prosperity", the need for a paradigm shift in water management was highlighted and issues such as circular economy, climate resilient water and sanitation, water governance, inter-sectoral dialogue, one health and capacity development were underlined.

 

 

With our country's active participation in the 10th WWF; the water vision of our country, the water efficiency studies and investments undertaken, the vision of "water efficiency campaign" and "agriculture based on available water", our experiences in integrating ecosystem security into basin management, flood management, basin-scale management, projects and good practices were shared including transboundary waters, water efficiency, capacity building and training studies as well as wastewater based surveillance works under the "One Health" approach.

 

 

Türkiye’s water dialogue with global actors was enhanced by reflecting our country's policies and cooperative approach particularly in transboundary waters. As a result of the forum, the Ministerial Declaration was finalized in line with the opinions of the participating countries.
